The Texas Supreme Court has final appellate jurisdiction in most civil and juvenile cases. Records are case files of the Texas Supreme Court dating 1893-1943. Case files contain the most thorough documentation of the cases heard before the court. Types of materials present include briefs, applications for writ of error, transcripts from lower courts, statements of fact, bonds, precepts, motions for rehearing, applications for extensions of time, certification of costs, and opinions. Some case files are individually indexed. Indexes to the case files during this period provide minimal date coverage. The case files can best be accessed through the court dockets.
